Newton's Nook Designs - Sweet Treats Blog Hop

Friday, February 4, 2022

Hello everyone!

I’m here with Newton's Nook Designs Team and we are hopping along today to share some great Sweet Treats, which is just in time for Valentines day! Make sure you scroll down to the bottom of this post to see the whole list and hop along and comment for a chance to win!

I created these cute toppers using the Newton’s Nook Framework Die set. I used the stitched scalloped die in the set and scored it on the horizontal side. The cute images are from the newly released stamp set “Love Bots”. The design paper is also from the new release called “Love & Meows” 6x6 pad. I colored the images with copics.

Here is how I created my Valentine Treat Bags:
  • Die cut the scallop edge die with Newton’s Nook Framework Die set using two pink card stock and a piece of red card stock.
  • Scored each piece at 2 ½ inches. The topper measures 4 ½ x 1 3/8 (folded).
  • Cut the design paper from the “Love Meows” paper pad at 1 ½ x 4 ¼ and added it to the scalloped topper.
  • Added the 3 pieces of candy into the plastic zip lock bags, they measure 4 x 4 ¾ .
  • Added some score tape on each side of the bag and adhered the toppers to each bag.
  • Stamped and embossed the sentiments on black card stock with white embossing powder.
  • Colored the images from the “Love Bots” stamp set and die cut them. For finishing touches I added some clear wink of stella to some of the images, glossy accents to hearts and the dog, and Black Nuvo drops to the eyes.
  • Stamped and heat embossed the sentiments, using the sentiment strips from the A7 Frames & Banners Die Set.
  • After everything dried, added the images and sentiments to the toppers.

My card is an A2 card, the scalloped layer is from the GKD Master Layout 4 and ink blended the background with GKD Bubblegum Pink ink. I then die cut strips from the GKD Master Layouts 8, I used GKD card stock and randomly placed the strips on a piece of paper and die cut it with the heart die cut from Master Layouts 8.  I die cut the heart from GKD "Love" word and replaced the "O" from the word Love with one of the heart from "Love Hearts" stamp set.  I assembled the card and added the sentiment from the Love Hearts stamp set.

My second card is also an A2 card, the heart layer is from GKD Heart Cover Plate, the black layer I die cut from Master Layouts 2.  I die cut the GKD "hugs" word die and layered it three times for dimension.  I stamped and colored the heart and flower image with copics from GKD  "Sealed With a Kiss" stamp set and die cut.  I stamped the sentiment with GKD white embossing powder and die cut it with GKD sentiment strip from Master Layouts 2
