I made this card for my daughter to give to the staff at the hospital she had her baby.  They were so nice to her and gave her great care!  I hope they like it.  I used the Authentique Journey Collection to make this card.  The brown accent paper is from SU Early Espresso.  The sentiment is by Stampendous "Thank You Swirl".  I stamped the sentiment with SU ink Early Espresso.  The butterfly is a spellbinder die called Fanciful Flight.  I hope you enjoy looking at this card.

Mojo Monday Sketch 202

Tuesday, August 2, 2011

This weeks Mojo was very challenging.  I'm glad I did it because I love how the card turned out.  I wish I had time every week to do the Mojo's.  I'm going to try and make it a priority each week to create a mojo card.  Now for the receipe.  I used the My Minds Eye - Stella Rose Hattle Papers.  There were so many patterns to choose from, but I finally put it all together.  The base of the card is stampin up's basic grey card stock, I made the rosette on the front of the card and used one of the stella rose pearl brads in the middle.  The scallop circle was cut from the new SU big dies - perfect pennants, the small pennants are from spellbinders shapeabilites nested and lacey pennants.  The gray pearls around the scallop circle are queen and company pearls - silver.  The sentiment is from gina k. stamps - vogue vases.  Thanks for looking and leave a comment if you really like the card!

Bright Birthday Card

Wednesday, July 13, 2011

I love this card.  I CASE this from somewhere and cannot remember where I saw it, so if this is your card, please let me know.  This was made using the Spellbinders Nested Pennants Die Templates.  The stamp set used is from Waltingmouse stamps called Vintage Banners.  Love this company.- you can check them out here - http://www.waltzingmousestamps.com/.  The company is out of the England I believe.  You pay in pounds so it is a little expensive, but it is worth the money if you like their products.  I have bought a couple of other sets I need to start working on.

The paper and ink used is SU cherry cobbler and bermuda bay (retired).  The butterfly punch is Martha Stewart's.  Cuttlebug dots was used for the background of the card.

I've Been Published!

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

I submitted a birthday card I made on my cricut to a pretty new publication called "The bug Magazine".  I thought the card was unique enough to maybe get a little attention.  When they came back and said they were going to use the card in their May/June edition, I was so surprised and happy.  For you Cricut users here is their website if you are interested in purchasing the magazine.  http://thebugmagazine.com/.  They also have a facebook page if you want to look them up there too.  Take a look at the pictures below.

I used the Doodlecharm cartridge for this card.  I cut the cupcake out and then cut the icing out, ran it through my cuddlebug divine swirl.  The cupcake I ran through the cuddlebug with the distressed stripes.  Added some ribbon and sentiment.  Very simple card!

The first picture is a copy of the magazine cover and the second picture is the picture of my card in the magazine!!!!

I attended the Great American Scrapbook Conventions in Chantilly, VA on June 24th.  I was walking and saw a sign advertising "The bug Magazine".  I got so excited I found the booth and met the owner's husband Joshua.  This is a picture of me and Joshua holding the bug magazine.  He is such a nice guy, I wanted to purchase a t-shirt like the one he has on and they were not selling them.  I asked him if I could have the one he was wearing and he was going to give it to me!!!

Christmas in July

Sunday, July 10, 2011

I have been working on some Christmas cards this weekend for a friend of mine.  She wants to be able to make cards for Christmas that are not so complicated.  I think these came out pretty nice.  This stamp set just retired, it is called Big on Christmas.

The base of this card is old olive and I used the SU DSP Jolly Holiday for the front.

This card is called a joy fold card.  I love how it turned out.  This also is SU DSP called Dashing.  This was a very simple card to make and it does not take long at all.  Here are the dimensions:
Paper: Real Red (8 1/2 x 4 1/2) scored at 3" , (3 3/4 x 2 3/4), Old Olive (3 x 8) scored at 4" long ways, Very Vanilla (3 3/4 x 2 3/4) (3 1/2 x 2 1/2), Designer Series Paper (4 x 2 3/4) (4 x 5 1/4)

The base of this card is real read.  I punch some snowflakes with MS punch and used stickles to cover them.  I also used stickles on the word snow.

The base of this card is real red with real red ribbon on the side.

Craft Room in Progress!

Wednesday, July 6, 2011

These cubes are from Target call Itso; they snap together, you can also purchase shelves or bins to go inside the cubes.  I have three shelves in each cube.  On the right side, I have all my pattern paper.  On the left, I have more supplies.  Love these!!!!

This cabinet came from Joann Fabrics.  You can get this for under $100 with coupon.  I put all my solid colors in the slots where I have the paper.  In the bottom drawer I have my SU stamps.  If I get anymore, I don’t know where I’m going to put them.  In the other drawers there are just supplies

These are two shelves from Target.  They are great for holding your punches.  As you can see, I love Martha Stewart punches.
This table I keep my cricut and my grand caliber on.

Thank You

White House

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

My sister and brother in law were visiting this past weekend.  We really had a great time.  We went to tour the White House on Friday and then went again on a private tour of the West Wing on Sunday evening.  Wow, the White House is beautiful and so much history is in the building.  I have visited the White House years ago during Christmas, but I didn't really remember anything.  Here are a couple of pictures from our tour on Sunday.
This is the front of the White House walking up to it.

This is the Executive Building.  The Vice President has his office in this building.

This is standing outside the executive entrance looking up at the President's families living area.

Wedding Box

Thursday, June 9, 2011

Yes, you have seen this card before, but I decided to post it again because I was not pleased how the card looked in the envelope because of the rosette.  I made a box for the card!!!  I am so pleased with the box and it did not take long to make.  I embossed the top to make the box a little dresser.  This card and box was made for a co-worker who recently got married.  We will give the card and a gift card to him next week.

Life is Beautiful

Sunday, May 22, 2011

Well the weekend is almost over and back to the grind tomorrow.  I went to my stamp club yesterday and had a great time.  We did a technique called emboss resist.  I loved the stamp French Script, I have to get it.  I also like the set Always.  I also found out this weekend what "case" means.  I was telling a friend that I did not like the word "case" when someone elses card has inspired you.  Well, she emailed me and said, "case" means, "Copy and Share Everything".  Case isn't such an awkward word when you use it like that.  I also learned a great technique.  I ordered a few stamp sets from Waltzingmouse Stamps and when I was using a stamp from the Vintage Banner, it was not coming out clean.  There were blotches on my paper.  So I put a message on facebook and I got two great tips.  One said to rub the stamp with an adhesive eraser then clean it.  The other tip was ink the stamp with veramark first and then ink it with the ink pad.  I did this and it really works.  When I finish that card, I will post it.  Here are the two cards I made at my stamp club this weekend.

This card was made with the stampin up set called always.  We used the scallop punch, pinking heart punch and the circle scallop punch.  Great card!

This card was stamped with the French Script stamp and the sentiment is from the style beautiful.  We used the top note, large oval xlarge punch, decorative label punch, and the crumb cake seam binding.

Baby Card

Thursday, May 19, 2011

I made this card for a co-worker who is having a baby girl.  I really love the wild card cartridges.  I use this one a lot.  If you are looking for a cartridge to make cards, I really think this is the one to get.  I will post a graduation card I made for my daughter later.  Check out my splitcoast stampers, I made the same card for a baby boy.  Here is the link for the baby girl card:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1974625?&cat=500&ppuser=138376&perpage=96&thumbsonly=0

Paper Doll

Monday, May 16, 2011

My grand-daughter is in headstart and she brought home some homework.  It was to decorate a paperdoll to look like yourself.  Well, we made it a family affair and it really turned out cute.  She was so proud of it.  She was holding it in the car and said "my doll is going to be the prettiest".  I just said, "you don't know how everyone elses is going to look."  But, I was thinking to myself, it probably will.  Let's see what the teachers are going to say.....  Here is how the doll turned out.

Congratulations - Wedding

Great Weekend

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Wow, what a great weekend.  My birthday was Friday.  I celebrated with my daughter, husband and sister at BoneFish.  Then on Saturday my daughter graduated from North Carolina A&T.  What a great day it was.  She is still in disbelief that she does not have to write another paper or go to class or do her internship.  She was even more excited when she found out she made the deans list.   Yes Deatra it is over!!!!  Now onto another chapter of your life.   To top the weekend off, Sunday was Mother's Day.  We (husband and daughter) drove down to Charlotte from Greensboro, NC to have brunch with my mother, oldest sister, and neice at the Hilton Hotel.  Mmmm, the food was very good.  Now I am back home, trying to figure out where my daughter is going to store all her stuff!!!!  What a great weekend.
