Newton's Nook Designs - Color Challenge #11

Friday, June 27, 2014

Happy Friday everyone!

I am back again with Newton's Nook Designs as a guest designer.  Newton's is having a color challenge, Lime green, Lemon Yellow, Orange and Grapefruit Pink! They thought it would be fun to do a citrus color palette, since the fruit stamp set was released last week.  This color challenge is making my mouth water!!!!

I found the perfect paper for this challenge, I was so excited when I saw it.  The pattern paper is Bo-Bunny called  Lemonade Stand.  For the base of my card, I used Stampin Up's Daffodil Delight.  Don't these colors look yummy?  The layering is MFT blueprints 15 and the stitched tag is Lil' Inkers Anytime Tags Die.  And how cute are the orange slices?  The slices I stamped from the new set Sweet Summer made by NND.  That's it, just clean and simple!

If you want to play along with the color challenge, head on over to NND and get all the details. Thanks for stopping by and please come back again soon.

Newton's Nook Designs June Release

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

Hello Blogger!

I have some fun news to share - I'm guest designing for Newton Nooks Design (NND)  this month!  Guest designing for Newton Nooks  has been such a fun and great opportunity - thank you so much for selecting me to play with your products and be part of such a fantastic release!

It's time for a fun new release from Newton's Nook Designs!  Today NND stamp set is called Chicken Scatches.  It is such a cute stamp set with so many possiblities.  Here is my card:

I used an A2 size for my base.  I added the design paper and rounded the corners.  Then I made a pennant and used the chicken wire stamp as the background.  I colored the roster and baby chicken with my prismacolor pencils.  To finish my card off, I added some twine and stamped the cute sentiment at the bottom of the card.  Isn't this stamp set so cute!

Would you like to win “Chicken Scratches”?  This set will be given away to Two lucky winners!  Here's how to win:

Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #10 - Spray It, Ink It, Paint It and Emboss It! - BLOG HOP DAY 2

Tuesday, June 17, 2014

Hello Bloggers!

This week the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog is changing it up...with a blog hop! Challenge #10 is ready at the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog but we are doing things a bit differently this time! We are doing a week-long blog hop with STENCIL GIRL!

Each day this week you will visit the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog see the fabulous designs of the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Team, and then you will visit the StencilGirl Talk Blog to see what their team is doing! For the blog hop order, see the end of the post.

Now, for the challenge!

Challenge #10 Spray It! Ink It! Paint It! Smear It! Emboss It!
Show us your inner mixed media diva! Use spray mists, inks, paints, modeling paste, embossing powder, pastels, chalk, and whatever messy media you can find! Let's dig into that hoard, pull out some of that "messy stuff," and use it up! There is a mess-maker hiding in all of you! Let her/him out to play!

Here is my take on the challenge...I have to admit, this is my very first mixed media project! This challenge was so much fun for me.  I started with using tissue paper and gel.  I waited for the gel to dry and added gesso.  Then I taped my stencil down with re-positional tape and smeared embossing paste all over the stencil to get the embossing effect of the flower. And then I just started using a lot of sprays to get the effect I was trying for.  Whew, what do you think?  The "Love" next to my project are alphabets from Tim Holtz, I sanded the letters and used distress paint and distressed ink.

Closer view of the stencil

Closer look of the flower....can you see the glimmer mist?

Remember, you have two weeks to play in the new challenge! Challenge #10 closes June 29th at midnight PT. Link up your project here to Challenge #10.

Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog - Challenge 9 Fold It!

Monday, June 2, 2014

Hello Bloggers,

Happy Monday!  Welcome to challenge 9 of the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog! The theme for our challenge is "Fold It".  Use some sort of "fun fold" on your project. You can make a fun fold card, a pop-up card, an explosion box, or other type of project that makes use of folded cardstock or paper. You can share some folding techniques that are perfect for scrapbook layouts or mixed media pieces. Create a mini album with a folded binding. Fold some ribbon to make pleats. De-hoard those supplies and show us your folds....paper folds that is!  This month's sponsors are WorldWin papers and StencilGirl.

WorldWin Papers offers extraordinary paper, card stock and envelopes for all paper crafting applications. We have teamed up with leading paper suppliers from around the world to bring some of the most colorful, elegant and sophisticated paper lines available to the craft market. All of our papers provide exceptional quality and design - perfect for scrapbooking, card making, rubber stamping and paper crafting.

StencilGirl stencils are designed by artists for artists to use in mixed-media, encaustic, fiber arts, paper crafts, and so much more!  The 7 mil mylar stencils are thick enough to be durable and long lasting, yet they are thin enough to provide a seamless look in your art.  StencilGril stencils are made in the USA!

The lucky winner will receive a selection of WorldWin papers in 12 x 12 and 8 1/2 x 11, three StencilGirl stencils, and a DVD.  Ok, let's see what you can create.  The challenge rules are HERE. Make sure you LINK your project up using the Link Tool on the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog.

Here is my top fold card I made.  I cut the card out with my Silhouette.  The black and grey paper is Worldwin papers.  I embossed the sentiment on vellum and embossed the grey paper with Lifestyle embossing folder GooseBumpz.  I used the StencilGirl stencil at the bottom and inked it with chalk white.  I thought the card needed a little something else, so I added the beautiful flowers.
